Reminder of the DUTH examination rules and regulations

18

Dear Students,

With the spring semester examination period starting on Tuesday, 2/6/2026, we would like to draw your attention to the Regulations of Democritus University of Thrace, and in particular:

Article 9. Obligations of Students Taking Examinations

1. If you arrive more than fifteen (15) minutes late, you will not be allowed to participate in the examination.

2. The minimum time before you may submit your examination paper is 30 minutes after the distribution of the exam questions, unless otherwise specified by the Examination Coordinator.

3. The following are not permitted:

  • … notes, books, mobile phones, or any other electronic devices (e.g. smartwatches, tablets, headphones, etc.) of any type or communication method, unless explicitly authorized by the Examination Coordinator.
  • leaving the examination room during the examination, except in cases of necessity and only with the approval of the Examination Coordinator and accompanied by an invigilator
  • remaining alone in the examination room; therefore, the second-to-last student must remain, and both students leave simultaneously
  • taking the examination questions with you when leaving
  • exchanging notes or objects, collaborating, conversing, displaying your examination paper to other students, and, in general, attempting to use any method of cheating and/or obtaining answers through unlawful or ethically improper means.

All of the above constitute an attempt to cheat and result in the examination paper being signed and assigned a grade of zero, as well as a violation of these Regulations and, consequently, a disciplinary offence.

4. Any breach of examination integrity, even if discovered after the examination, such as during the grading process, will result in the examination paper being signed by the invigilator or the instructor (depending on who detects the breach and at what stage of the process). Furthermore, such actions constitute a violation of these Regulations and, consequently, a disciplinary offence.

5. The examination end time is announced at the beginning of the process, after all examination materials have been distributed to students.

6. You are required to show respect to instructors and invigilators and to follow their instructions.

Article 186. Support for DUTH Students Belonging to Vulnerable Groups

b) Before the examination begins (3 days in advance), students must contact the course instructor, declare any special needs they may have, and indicate whether they wish to be examined under alternative arrangements. On the day of the examination, they must bring the document containing the decision of the Department Assembly specifying the examination method.

We wish you every success in your examinations!
